Last Friday we celebrated Under Eights Day. The theme for this year was Superheroes. We also celebrated Walk Safely to School Day, so it was a huge day had by all. It was amazing to see how creative our students were in their wonderful costumes (thank you parents). We were treated to a huge selection of activities all held on our school oval. We had special appearances by our ‘real life superheroes’ – our Adopt A Cop (Constable Glen Purcell), Mr Dale McVeigh and his fellow firefighters and Captain Lauren Noble and a number of other army personnel from the Gallipoli Barracks.Apart from the wonderful activities the students were also treated to pizza and cold drinks on the day. These were kindly supplied by our wonderful P&C. Mama’s Pizza made the whole process possible, providing the pizzas to the P&C at well below cost price. We also had the pleasure of welcoming the following special guests to our school to help celebrate the day or to volunteer their time–Mike Latter (P&C president), Mrs Shannon Fentiman (the state member for Waterford), Councillor Stacey McIntosh (the local councillor for Waterford), Leanne and Wendy (from Bendigo Bank), Des Hardman (Labour candidate) and the lovely people from Mama’s Pizza (Amanda and her whole family – who opened early to cook the pizzas in time for the students first lunch and for helping out with handing out the pizza on the day).
